Banter, Bedlam, Blasphemy!!!

Just a few thoughts surrounding a few things that have been happening, but the contexts of which are relevant to any form of debate/ discussion.....

Rudra never felt more out of place. He wasn't sure why he was sitting where he was, mostly because he really had no intention being there, but like many other events that had been happening, he found himself in the ever so often turmoil he seems to land in...a hobson's choice, except there does exist another option, but is emotionally extorted out of choosing the other.
So here he was in a conglomeration essentially consisting people of the same stratum, who have come together to emphatically establish a twelve year old's membership into the afore mentioned stratum ( I as a narrator choose the word stratum as a euphemism for the word 'caste' which I have come to hate so much that i prefer not using it at all!)
So Rudra sat through the whole ordeal, bored beyond description, finding nothing to distract him, for his family seemed to find things to talk about which he had no interest in listening to. He thought he'd be cheeky and try looking around for anyone aesthetically interesting, and may be strike a conversation to spice up a more than bland environment, not that he was interested disturbingly so in the opposite gender, but for Rudra, it of late had become easier to approach an alien woman than an alien man!! ( the idiot was probably (over)compensating for tears he spent ignoring the opposite gender!!) But alas, in this boring consortium of people of stratum, he was the only one in the vicinity of his age group, surrounded by either pre-pubescent or peri-menopausal set (no offense intended!)
So he rakes up a conversation with a random gentleman, and starts enjoying the conversation as it started getting intellectual, and soon a two person conversation became a discussion between 10 people (men and women) and no sooner than that it ended up a becoming a debate....9 people vs Rudra on the very old, beaten to death topic of the importance of preservation of the 'STRATUM'!
Now i will only narrate Rudra's views, and hope for your (the reader's) views...pro or anti!

It's not just that it is 2011, but haven't we left all that behind? Or shouldn't we? Im a synopsis, this is why Rudra thinks 'strata' are over-rated :

  • He remembers from history lessons that they were created based on occupation, it set out to divide the labour among the society so that all the spheres required to keep the said society alive and running are performed without a speed bump....but does that apply now?
  • Like many other things, this concept go misconstrued over time, instead of the stratum defining one's job, the stratum started defining the person.....
  • It as become a joke! I mean Rudra did laugh when Russel Peters joked that Indians are not terrorist because while the latter hated USA, the former hated each other, it did feel like a painful truth, how counter-productive!!
  • A population of 1,155,347,700 and we still plan to become a super power, we have man power, why not work to rid of our own adversities and not worry about the label?!!
  • The meaning of the word 'politics' has thus been redefined! The term entails with it a sense of bad after-taste!
  • Aren't there better things to obsess about in the present day? For a second forget about changing the country, instead of worrying about the thinning or dilution of the stratum, why not just look around in one's own home and just do a little extra to make sure everyone is happy and swell?!!
With all these in mind Rudra declared that he finds it ridiculous that we still have such ceremonies and that he finds neither pride nor shame in him belonging to that stratum, and rather just not know or do anything about it....this was considered blasphemous by the 9!!

What do you think?!!
